Step by Step Instructions:
-
Remove the pull tab from Tonal’s arm using the supplied allen wrench by unscrewing the screw holding it onto the pivot lever.
-
Carefully remove the plastic cover from the joint of Tonal’s arm by pulling the bottom out first then sliding it upwards to unhook it from Tonal’s arm.
-
Using painters’ tape or duct tape, cover up all the gaps on the front and back side of Tonal below the top of the arm. This will ensure the c-clip, if dropped, doesn’t go inside Tonal and it makes it to the floor where you will have a chance to find it.
-
Carefully remove the c-clip from the pivot pin using a small magnetic screwdriver. Pry it slightly off first so you can use the screwdriver and your finger to pull it completely off without dropping it. (*note - the c-clip may be on the back side of the arm versus the front side). Try extremely hard not to drop the c-clip or let it spring from the pivot pin because you may not find it and I don’t have any replacements.
-
Slide the pivot pin out from Tonal’s arm.
-
Slide the pivot lever down from Tonal’s arm and the locking pin.
-
Unscrew the lock pin from Tonal’s arm with the supplied wrench and remove the locking pin completely. If the tip of the lock pin didn’t come out with the main lock pin you can move Tonal’s arm and remove the tip of lock pin from the hole in Tonal. Ensure there are no parts of the broken lock pin stuck in the arm or Tonal.
-
Re-install new lock pin with your fingers and then tighten it down with the supplied wrench. Be sure to tighten the pin once fully inserted. Ensure the open slot of the pin is facing downward.
-
Re-install pivot lever - Slide pivot lever upward behind Tonal arm’s joint with the front side of the “C” shape facing outward away from Tonal. Capture the locking pin into the pivot lever while sliding it upward.
-
Re-install pivot pin - slide the pivot pin through the pivot lever and Tonal’s arm from the backside to the front side.
-
Re-install c-clip onto pivot pin. - using a magnetic screwdriver position the c-clip onto the end of the pivot pin in the groove. While holding the pivot pin in place and using your finger to stabilize the c-clip with one hand, push the c-clip onto the pivot pin with your screwdriver until it is locked into place. Ensure the c-clip is fully seated onto the pivot pin. Try extremely hard not to drop the c-clip or let it spring from the pivot pin because you may not find it and I don’t have any replacements. You can now remove any tape you applied to Tonal from Step 3.
-
Re-install the plastic cover. Hook the top onto the top of Tonal’s arm and rotate it downward. With some force push the cover onto Tonal’s arm until you hear it click and it is fully seated onto the arm. Ensure the plastic cover is fully seated onto Tonal’s arm.
-
Re-install the pull tab - with the arrow on the pull tab facing outward slide the pull tab onto the pivot lever with the two pins and holes aligned. Using the supplied allen wrench tighten the screw to secure the pull tab onto Tonal’s arm.

Now it’s time to get back to work building muscle with your Tonal Home Gym!
